The process of cell selection removes unwanted cells from the cell harvest leaving a purified fraction of cells ready to transfuse to the patient. FDA approved the ISOLEX 300i Magnetic Cell Selection System for the clinical selection of CD34 positive cells, affording the passive depletion of tumor cells from autologous apheresis products.
The use of the ISOLEX system is contraindicated in patients whose tumors express the CD34 antigen. ISOLEX processing is not indicated for use with previously cryopreserved and thawed peripheral blood progenitor cell products.
