The FDP is a three-year program that affords associates an opportunity to rotate through a series of four, nine-month assignments. It is a progressive and challenging program that provides associates a breadth of unique experiences in various aspects of corporate accounting and finance -- financial reporting, financial planning, business analysis, manufacturing/cost accounting, systems/special projects, corporate (e.g., treasury, tax, consolidations, audit, etc.), and international accounting and finance -- that will shape them into the leaders of the future. Through formal training and on-the-job experiences, the FDP is committed to developing financial skills, leadership and teamwork ability, while exposing associates to new and exciting technology and global markets.
One of the most unique aspects of the FDP is Baxter’s commitment to expose its associates to global business issues. Approximately 75 percent of the rotations are located in the United States (e.g., Illinois, Indiana, California, and Florida), and approximately 25 percent of the rotations are located outside of the United States (e.g., Australia, China, Ireland, and Switzerland). Upon graduating from the FDP, associates will have gained experience and knowledge that will assist them in achieving both stimulating and challenging long-term assignments within Baxter.
As associates progress through each rotation, they continue to build upon and develop their skills and enhance their understanding of operations within Baxter. Upon graduating from the FDP, associates will have gained insight into several businesses and functions and their knowledge and hands-on experience will be in great demand across the company.
Approximately six (6) months prior to completion of the program, associates begin planning their transition to regular, full-time positions outside of the program. With the help of the program manager, colleagues, and FDP supervisors, as well as on-line tools, associates are able to seamlessly transition from the program to their next role. An associate’s first role after graduation from the program may be with a business where s/he has completed a rotation or in a related function within another business. However, it is important to note that the opportunities are numerous and the possibilities are not limited to any single type of position.
